Many condo communities are moving toward being “pet-friendly” to it’s residents which makes it easier for pet lovers to find homes for themselves and their fur babies. In recent years, service and comfort animals have made a way for prospective residents to own a pet even if the association or community has a no pet policy. Though not an easy task, home owners must prove that the service or comfort animal has been “prescribed” by the owner’s physician and the owner must provide all pet records. This can be easier said than done as some physicians are very strict about disclosing a patients medical needs due to all of the HIPPA laws. Some would-be homeowners may also have to provide this type of paperwork even if the community allows pets, but your pet does not fit their breed or size limits.
